Layne Saliba is the Features Reporter at The Times in Gainesville, Georgia.

Through his experiences at The Times, he’s been able to see a different side of the city that a lot of people haven’t seen. He’s built relationships with the community and told their stories, oftentimes, when they would otherwise go untold. He’s not afraid to talk to a stranger or pick up the phone and make a call. He’s always looking for his next story and realizes it could come from anywhere.

During his time as a journalist, he’s won two Georgia Associated Press Media Editors awards. Layne won first place for “Best Business Writing 2018” as well as third place for “Best Feature Writing 2018.”

On his way to those awards, he’s picked up many skills that have benefited him in the workplace, the community and will carry on throughout the rest of his life.

Previously, Layne covered University of Georgia athletics for the Red & Black in Athens, Georgia.
